Craig Ervine will lead a depleted Zimbabwe squad against West Indies at home in the upcoming two-match Test series. Ervine has been asked to take over the captaincy duties with regular skipper Sean Williams sidelined with a fractured finger.
Apart from Williams, Zimbabwe will also be without several first-choice players for the two games in Bulawayo. Allrounders Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl will miss the series in order to fulfill their franchise commitments whereas pacers Tendai Chatara and Blessing Muzarabani are recovering from injuries.
The absence of these players has opened the door for the inclusion of uncapped players Tafadzwa Tsiga, Joylord Gumbie, Kudzai Maunze and Tanunurwa Makoni. Innocent Kaia, who recently broke into the limited overs set up, is expected to make his Test bow during the series.
