Delhi Capitals Innings Summary –

DC started their innings tentatively with both openers looking to preserve their wicket. Prithvi Shaw stepped out a few times and dispatched the bowl to the boundary. But he became the first wicket to fall. Rohit Sharma played to his ego by introducing off spinner Hrithik Shoukeen who bowled from round the stumps. Green took a high catch to send back the Delhi opener for 15 runs.

DC Middle Order Collapse

Rohit Sharma brought back pacer Rilee Meredith in the 10th over and was instantly rewarded with debutant Yash Dhull’s wicket.

Piyush Chawla’s famous wrong ‘uns were then back in the game. First, he tricked Rovman Powell into committing forward with one that turned in. He trapped him LBW. He then breached Lalit Yadav’s huge bat-pad gap as the batter failed to pick the variation. Beautiful bowling from the senior bowler who was sitting in the commentary box last season. DC were five down without 100 on the board.

Axar Patel Lights Up Delhi

Axar Patel played an absolute blinder. A 24-ball 54 with four fours and five sixes that involved smashing Hritik Shoukeen, Cameron Green and Jason Behrendorff. He helped revive DC after a middle order collapse. David Warner, who scored another fifty – though very sluggish, was dismissed for 51 off 47 balls.

Mumbai Indians Innings Summary –

The Mumbai Indians openers – Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan started with a bang with Rohit lofting the Delhi bowlers for huge sixes. At no time did he look uncomfortable at the crease. Ishan Kishan, on the other hand, had some luck going his way. Both batters reached a score of 71 in 7.2 overs. However, a terrible call for a single by Rohit Sharma led to Ishan Kishan’s demise in the 8th over. Ishan had to return back to the pavilion after struggling for 31 runs in 26 balls.

Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma were going strong after Kishan’s exit but then came a sudden lull that cranked up the asking rate. Axar, Lalit and Mustafizur bowled three overs where they conceded 4,5 and 2 runs to give DC hopes of a late comeback. Then came the storm in the form of Tilak Varma’s six-hitting against Mukesh Kumar – as he carted two sixes and then fell. Suryakumar Yadav then hit one straight to fine leg to fall for a first-ball duck.

Another day, another thriller at the IPL! Anrich Nortje came extremely close to defending five runs in the final over as he executed yorkers at will. But Tim David and Cameron Green did just about enough and ran hard on the last ball to secure a thrilling six-wicket victory. With that MI are off the mark, while DC’s winless streak is now up to four games.
