RCB simply belted LSG bowlers on their home turf. From Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, each had their own way with the Lucknow bowlers. Avesh Khan got brutally hit along with Ravi Bishnoi. Faf stood out amongst the three with his 115 mtrs six that went out of the ground. The LSG batters, barring KL Rahul, replied in similar fashion. Stoinis took apart the RCB bowlers at a strike rate of over 200. Nicholas Pooran came in to justify his price and launched into the heart of the RCB bowling. He made 51 runs in 15 balls at a strike rate of 340! It was the fastest fifty of IPL 2023. He RCB Vs LSG IPL Match turned out to be an anti-climax for the home team as they were hit by a lightening called Pooran! LSG won the match in the last ball of the innings.

RCB Innings Summary –

Kohli and du Plessis started off the RCB innings in style. Virat with a top-edged six and an inside out four, while the captain rotated the strike regularly. Kohli welcomed Mark Wood in the 6th over with a four and a six giving them the early advantage over the LSG spearhead.

Spin twins, Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya strangled the run-flow with spin, conceding 18 runs in 3 overs. Kohli got to his fifty in the 9th over off 35 balls, and things seemed a lot quieter. The final over, however, saw Kohli club Pandya for a massive six over cow corner to break the shackles, as RCB smashed 13 off the 10th over.

The Maxi – Du Plessis Show

After Virat got caught off the bowling of Amit Mishra, Maxwell and du Plessis took their time to settle in. They then cut loose against the leg-spinners in particular, hammering 33 in 2 overs. The brunt of their wrath was reserved for Ravi Bishnoi, who got hammered for three sixes, including a 115-meter hit from Faf, the biggest of this IPL.

The first ball of the 16th over was bowled by Mark Wood and was launched by Faf for six to bring up his fifty. Maxwell and Faf kept going after the bowlers, with all of 9 wickets in hand. LSG Innings Summary –

Siraj dealt LSG a crucial early blow, knocking over the in-form Kyle Mayers. Wayne Parnell got Hooda and Krunal Pandya nicking behind in his very first over. This further piled on the pressure on KL Rahul at the other end, who continued to struggle for fluency.

Stoinis Sets the Stage on Fire!

While KL Rahul struggled to get going, Marcus Stoinis hammered LSG out of a corner. Stoinis continued to take the bowlers apart, scoring 37 off three overs after the powerplay. He got to his fifty off 25 balls with a six off Shahbaz Ahmed in the 10th over of the innings. With KL Rahul not giving any support from the other end, Stoinis was taking all the risks. Stoinis finally fell after making 65 runs in 30 balls, taking Karn Sharma on.

KL Rahul – Miserable End to a Miserable Innings

KL Rahul’s misery at the crease came to an end when he was caught in the deep by Virat Kohli for a mere 18 runs in 20 balls. Not only did he slow down the innings but also wasted a lot of balls. KL Rahul should keep in mind that in order for him to open, Quinton de Kock is sitting on the bench. Not only is KL Rahul proving to be a liability to his team but also causes incredible frustration for LSG fans.

Nicholas Pooran Blows RCB Away –

The dismissal of KL Rahul turned out to be a blessing in disguise for LSG. Nicholas Pooran came into his own and then there was no turning back for LSG. Pooran smashed the RCB bowlers at a strike rate of over 300. Anyone who had questioned Pooran’s price for LSG, would be looking for places to hide. He went on to smash the fastest fifty of IPL 2023 and the second fastest ever in 15 balls. The young man Ayush Badoni supported him well at the other end. He rotated the strike well and made sure Pooran had plenty of it. Pooran ultimately fell for 62 in 19 balls off the bowling of Siraj. But the innings he played was enough to get his team over the line.

LSG, despite a pathetic batting show from their captain KL Rahul, reached the target in the 20th over.
