For the second time in the tri-series, Indian Women managed to beat West Indies Women as they picked up an easy 8-wicket win on Monday, January 30th. With the finalists already decided, West Indies didn’t have much to play for other than getting match practice for the upcoming World Cup. Deepti Sharma was the star of this Indian victory.
The West Indies Women got off to a decent start, racing to 18/0 in the first three overs. However, Deepti Sharma entered the attack and immediately got rid of Rashada Williamson with a shocking delivery that turned after pitching to breach the defense. Shemaine Campbell then faced a similar fate first ball to fall for a duck as the West Indies found themselves in a hole.
At the halfway mark, West Indies had only 46 on the board. Pooja Vastrakar then picked up the dangerous wicket of Matthews as she top-edged a delivery to depart for 34. India took total control of the game as the runs were hard to come by. In her final over, Deepti Sharma added one more wicket to her name and finished with stunning figures of 3/11 as West Indies finished with 94/6.
